still studying.

Strange.

If you look back on your life and work out what changed it, it can sometimes be the smallest thing.

Not your parent dying, not a house fire (not that I have had one of those) not a road accident, it's the very small things.

In 1989 I was a bus inspector, not a bad job even though not a very satisfying job but still a nice steady job.
I was a single parent living with my daughter, she was about 8 or 9. I had a very small business installing satellite dishes (which was new at the time).

I came home and the phone rang 'Hi, is that the satellite company?'
'Yes'
'Could you do some SKY decoder installation work for us'
'Yes'
'Okay we will send you 500 decoders and all the job sheets.'
'Fine'

The decoders, 500, I wonder how big they are? oh, I'll just put them in the garage.

Two days later a phone call from the lorry driver.
'Hey, I'm looking at the map, your premises seem to be in a normal street, with houses'
'Yes, I live in a house.'
'Do you know how big this load is?'
'Not a clue.'
'I'll be there in 5 minutes.'

He rolled up with an artic lorry and pulled back the side sheets to reveal five pallets over 2 meters high with decoders. We did get them in the house, but there was not much room for us.

Needless to say we worked hard and got a load done. The company were happy and after 3 weeks they offered me  150 dish installs a week. ....... I handed in my notice.

Within 8 weeks the contract was finished, I was out of work.

Imagine if I had not taken that call, I would not be here now. With all the other things that happened to me since. I would not have met my 2nd wife, I would not have done a lot of things along the way. Who knows.

When I have time I'll look at small things that changed my life so much.

I'll post this even though it's not really finished. I don't expect to post regular for a while I'm studying.
But I may find time to do a quick note.

Good night.
