In at last.

The script is in.

At last I've posted the script, it's only for the first hour. I've broken up the book into 4-5 hours of TV.
The BBC only want the first hour (who can blame them).

First of all I read the instructions from the BBC. How to do this, how to do that and I followed all the instructions and did the whole book, about 290 pages. I know it's not a lot, but the way a script is done it leaves a lot of interpretation for them, that's the way they like it.

No descriptions, the dialogue has to portray that, no character descriptions, so a lot goes missing. When  I looked the second time they had changed a few things, so I re-did the script, but only for the first hour.

They want a 3 page synopsis for the rest of the series, try that, 200 pages in to 3. Every word counts.

They tell you they only read the first 10 pages then put it in the bin or phone you up. I'm not expecting much.

The Ship.

About, no defiantly 1988 The Ship changed hands. It's a spit and sawdust sort of pub, it's in a bad place if you look at it first glances. I missed it. It has changed hands twice since then, I missed it both times.
The Lady (very lose term) who has had the pub for the last 5 years went bankrupt about 6 months ago. She locked herself and her two kids in and has been squatting. I've been driving past regular, hoping a board would go up and I could make a bid.

Why would I do this, especially when it's just gone bust. I just want to.

I have a massive circle of friends and acquaintances who would come and make it a nice place to drink, sing and socialise. Also I'm sick of working up ladders, in the cold and wet.

I found out this week it's just been taken. No advert, no board, nothing.  I'm gutted.

This is a picture of the place about 10 years ago, a few thing have changed, but not a lot.
It's in a bit of town where you have to travel to it, there are no locals, well not many. But close by they are some very successful pubs, they have no catchment. In a way they compliment each other. As you can see from the picture it's built under the Byker bridge, the Cumberland Arms is at the other end of that bridge (Cumby, I sing there on Sundays).

I'll just have to run my life out playing golf.

Good night.
